The journal follows the APA referencing style, 7th edition. Authors must format in-text citations and the reference list strictly in accordance with APA 7.

In-text citations take the following form: [Author's surname, year of publication, page number]

Examples:

• Single author: (Al-Khafaji, 2020, p. 45).
• Two authors: (Al-Jubouri & Al-Obaidi, 2018, p. 12).
• Three or more authors: (Al-Nuaimi et al., 2019, p. 77).
• When the author's name appears in the sentence:
  As Al-Attar (2021, p. 105) noted, …

Note: All in-text citations must correspond exactly to the entries in the reference list, and vice versa.

Reference List Formatting

Journal Articles: Surname, initial of first name only. (Year of publication). Title of the article. Journal Name in Italics, Volume number (Issue number), first page–last page.
Including the DOI is mandatory for all articles that have one.

Example: Ism'ili,M. A. (2025). Free Will in Contemporary Usuli Thought: Sayyid Muhammad Baqir al-Sadr as a Case Study. AL-DALEEL, 8(30), 1-26. doi:10.64704/aldaleel.2025083001

Books: Surname, initial of first name only. (Year of publication). Title of the book in italics. Publisher.

Example: Lycan, W. (2003). Philosophy of Mind. Blackwell Companions to Philosophy.
